Your passwords. Your data. Your control.

PawoSec is a locally operated password manager for iPhone and iPad. The app was developed to manage passwords and other confidential access credentials securely, clearly, and without cloud synchronization. PawoSec does not require a user account or registration. Stored data remains on your device.

1. Starting PawoSec
When starting the app for the first time, you set your master password. The master password protects your password vault and should therefore be chosen with particular care.

Important: You should never share your master password. Depending on the selected settings, PawoSec can additionally support authentication via Face ID or Touch ID.

2. The Password Vault
After unlocking, you reach the overview of your stored entries. PawoSec supports various entry types, including:

- Websites, Apps, Phone, Cards, Email, Secure Notes, Custom Templates. Each entry can contain the information required for its specific purpose.

3. Creating New Entries
Use the "+" button to create a new entry. First select the desired entry type and then enter the required information. Depending on the entry type, the following information can be stored, for example: Title, username, password, URL, email address, notes, tags, 2FA/TOTP data. After saving, the entry is immediately available in your password vault.

4. Custom Templates
With custom templates, entry types can be adapted to your personal needs. You can define your own fields and save them as a template.
This also makes it possible to manage specific types of access credentials or information for which none of the existing templates is ideally suited.

5. Finding Entries Quickly
When many entries are stored, the search function is particularly useful. PawoSec allows searches by, among other things:
Title, username, URL, notes, tags Various filtering options are also available.

6. Categories, Tags and Filters
Categories and tags help organize your entries clearly. Filters can be used to display only specific entries, for example.
This allows you to quickly find the information you need even when managing a large number of stored access credentials.

7. Sorting
PawoSec provides various options for sorting your entries. Depending on the selection, you can sort by:
A-Z, Z-A, Favorites first, Newest entries, Oldest entries. Sorting helps keep even extensive password collections organized.

8. A-Z Navigation
For larger lists, letter sections are available. Individual sections can be expanded and collapsed.
The A-Z navigation also allows you to jump directly to a specific letter. This makes it easy to search through even large lists.

9. Favorites
Important or frequently needed entries can be marked as favorites. Favorites can then be displayed and filtered preferentially.
The
"Manage Favorites" function allows multiple entries to be selected conveniently.

10. Quick Copy
PawoSec allows important access credentials to be copied quickly. Depending on the entry, the following information can be copied:

- Username, Password, URL, Email address, 2FA/TOTP code

The copy functions can be used directly from the overview or via the corresponding quick functions.

11. Quick Filter
A special convenience feature of PawoSec is the Quick Filter.
It allows you to select an entry and copy important information without having to open the complete entry.
For example, you can quickly: Username → copy, Password → copy, URL → copy, Email → copy, 2FA code → copy

This saves time and reduces unnecessary steps during everyday use.

12. 2FA / TOTP
PawoSec supports TOTP-based two-factor authentication. A corresponding entry can display the required one-time code.
For supported entries, the current 2FA code can also be used via the Quick Copy function.

13. Editing Entries
To change an existing entry, open the corresponding entry and select the editing function.
After making changes, the updated information is stored locally.

14. Duplicating Entries
An existing entry can be duplicated when needed. This is particularly useful when multiple entries contain similar information.
After duplicating an entry, the individual details can be adjusted.

15. Deleting Entries
Entries can be deleted individually or multiple entries can be deleted using the selection mode. Deleted entries are initially moved to the Trash.

16. Trash
Deleted entries remain in the Trash for a limited period. From there, they can be: restored, or permanently deleted.
After permanent deletion, the corresponding data is no longer available through the Trash.

17. Automatic Lock
PawoSec can automatically lock the password vault. Various time intervals are available, including immediate locking.
Automatic locking prevents the unlocked password vault from remaining accessible unnecessarily long when the app is not actively being used.

18. Lock Immediately
If you want to lock PawoSec immediately, you can use the "Lock" function. The password vault is then closed and must be authenticated again.

19. Face ID / Touch ID
When enabled, PawoSec can use iOS biometric authentication. This allows the password vault to be unlocked quickly without entering the master password every time.
The biometric data itself is not stored by PawoSec.

20. Clipboard Protection
When copying confidential information, it may temporarily be available in the iOS clipboard.
PawoSec automatically removes copied sensitive data from the clipboard after the specified protection period. The current protection period is 20 seconds.

21. Password AutoFill
PawoSec can be used as a password AutoFill provider in iOS. This allows stored credentials to be conveniently used in supported apps and on supported websites.
Setting up AutoFill The setup is performed in the iOS settings. Activate PawoSec there as the desired password AutoFill provider.
The exact name and location of the setting may vary depending on the iOS version being used.

22. Password Generator
PawoSec includes a password generator for creating secure passwords. Instead of creating passwords yourself, you can use it to generate new, randomly created passwords.
This makes it easier to use different passwords for different services.

23. Password Strength & Security Overview
PawoSec can analyze stored passwords for security. The Security Overview helps identify problematic entries more easily.
For example, weak, duplicate, or security-relevant passwords can be identified. This allows you to regularly review your stored credentials and improve them when necessary.

24. Encrypted Backups
PawoSec allows encrypted .pwsc backups to be created. Backups are created locally.
You decide where to store or share the backup file. PawoSec does not use its own cloud and does not automatically transfer your backups to its own servers.

Important: A backup is an additional security copy of your password vault. Therefore, keep your backup files in a secure location.

25. Backup Reminder
PawoSec can remind you to create a backup. The backup reminder helps you maintain a current backup of your password vault on a regular basis.

26. Restoring a Backup
An existing .pwsc backup can be restored using the Import function.
Important: Restoring a backup replaces the currently existing database according to the intended import process.

Therefore, carefully check that you have selected the correct backup file before restoring.

27. CSV Import
PawoSec supports importing credentials from CSV files. CSV import can be particularly useful when transferring existing password data from another application.

Important: CSV files may contain credentials in plain text and should therefore be handled with particular care.
Treat such files with special caution and delete them after a successful import if they are no longer needed.

28. Deleting Data
PawoSec provides various options for deleting stored data.
You can delete individual entries, multiple entries or, depending on the respective function, delete or reset the entire password vault.
A complete reset should only be performed when you are certain that the stored data is no longer needed.
An existing backup can provide an additional security measure before such an action.

29. Recovery Keyword and Recovery
PawoSec provides features to support recovery and handling of a forgotten master password.
Keep the corresponding recovery information in a secure location. It should never be stored together with your master password in an easily accessible place.

30. App Switcher and Privacy
PawoSec also takes the display of the app in the iOS App Switcher into account.
Certain protection mechanisms prevent confidential content from remaining unnecessarily visible when switching between apps.

31. Navigation
PawoSec has a compact navigation structure that can be opened with a swipe.
The functions are clearly organized into different sections: Entries, Security, Backup, App

This keeps even extensive functionality quickly accessible.

32. In-App Help
PawoSec provides context-sensitive help. Additional information about the respective sections can be displayed via the "?" button.
This provides support directly where a function is being used.
